CARE & MAINTENANCE
Cleaning, conditioning, and long-term upkeep.
Caring for your Old Line piece is simple and rewarding. Hand wash with mild soap, never soak, and never place in a dishwasher. Allow the piece to dry fully between uses and periodically condition it with a food-safe oil or wax. Regular maintenance not only protects the wood but enhances its color, grain, and longevity. We also offer our own conditioning products formulated specifically for our finishes.
Wipe it down with warm water and mild soap, then dry it immediately. Avoid soaking and never leave it sitting wet.
No. Dishwashers combine heat, water, and long cycles that can cause warping, cracking, and finish damage.
A good rule is when the wood looks dry or feels rough. For frequently used boards, conditioning about once a month is common, but your environment and use will dictate the schedule.
Use a food-safe board oil or conditioner designed for wood kitchenware. If you’re unsure, we can recommend a product that matches your piece and finish.
Apply a thin coat, let it soak in, then wipe off any excess. For deeper conditioning, apply a second coat after the first has absorbed.
Wash normally, then try a light scrub with lemon and coarse salt, rinse, and dry immediately. Re-condition if the wood feels dry afterward.
For light stains, a mild scrub can help. For deeper discoloration, contact us—depending on the piece and finish, we can recommend the safest approach.
